Welcome to the Capricorn House
The Capricorn House is a guest house in the Victorian tradition, built in 1876. Our seven recently renovated guestrooms are cozy, bright & cheerful, and are furnished with a combination of antiques and beachy casual furnishings. Ocean view rooms have private decks; all rooms have private modern bathrooms. We offer the best value on the island.
Spacious porches (open and enclosed) wrap around the Capricorn House and provide a panoramic view of the Nantucket Sound, a stretch of the Atlantic ocean between Cape Cod and Martha's Vineyard. Relax in one of our rocking chairs and watch the world sail by, literally. Oak Bluffs town beach and the famous Inkwell beach are located directly across the street.
The Capricorn House enjoys a perfect location. Directly on the beach and only a five minute walk offers shopping, restaurants, bars & pubs with live entertainment. The town harbor & ferry dock to Cape Cod and Nantucket, and the famous Flying Horses Carousel, parks, basketball & tennis courts and a children's playground. Churches of all denominations and the enchanting "gingerbread cottages" of the Methodist Camp Meeting Association are also a short walk from our front door. We're also at the head of the "Oak Bluffs - Edgartown" bike trail and on a public transit bus line. Leave your car on the mainland and forget about parking hassles and paying for taxis.
