Even through glass, the view from the enclosed front porch is spectacular.  Blessed with ocean breezes, summer mornings on the island can sometimes be cool, even as the mainland bakes in heat.  The enclosed porch is always a popular hangout at breakfast.  Early risers are rewarded with a sensational sunrise.

Looking east over Nantucket sound offers a view of the horizon stretching from Cape Cod to Chappaquiddick lighthouse, and beyond to Edgartown Harbor.  Simply put, the front porch offers a view that can't be beat.  Can you think of a better way to start your day?

The side porch with tables for 2 and a "swing built for 2" is a great place for couples to start and end the day.  

The private decks of rooms 1, 3 & 4 offer a spectacular view of Nantucket sound.  The morning sun rises just in front of the Capricorn House.  Watch the ferries coming and going from the harbor and town dock.  See the sail boats, of all shapes and sizes, gliding past your view.  It's a rare and beautiful sight to see a sunrise over the ocean.....from your bed.  It's incredibly romantic to be out on your own private deck at night.  The sky full of stars, the moon rising over the ocean, the sound of waves lapping at the shore, and the smell of fresh salt air all combine to create an unforgettable experience.   

Let yourself drift back to a simpler time.  Relax in the unique Victorian splendor that is the Capricorn House.  Pictured here is the south Parlor.  A comfortable home-like environment has made returning to the Capricorn House an annual event for many guests.

You won't lose your way back from the beach.  After enjoying a nice breakfast on our porch, a great way to start your day is by taking a stroll on the beach to collect the first pick of shells, or perhaps you might choose a brisk walk along the seawall.  Don't forget your bike, we're located at the head of the most popular the trail on the island.   Bicycles can also be rented.  Click on the Panorama to expand to a viewable size.
